Crafting

This piece is entirely handmade in France, in our workshop. Each ceramic has natural irregularities related to the artisanal process: these variations and imperfections make each of our pieces unique.

Some pieces may have small cracks on their edges, appearing during the manufacturing process. These have no impact on the strength of the pieces or their use. They are intentionally preserved and make them all the more unique, raw and imperfect objects, faithful to our DNA.

Materials

Textured stoneware covered with a matte glaze made in our workshop, from natural raw materials and without toxic ingredients.

Use and care

This piece is suitable for everyday use and is microwave and dishwasher safe. We recommend avoiding thermal shocks, which could weaken it.

Delivery and returns

We ship worldwide. All our packages are shipped from France and are insured so we can refund your order in case of loss or breakage. For more information, see our shipping policy and our returns and refund policy.

Samekh is the fifteenth letter of the Phoenician alphabet, the oldest known alphabet and ancestor of our modern writing systems, born around 3,000 years ago in present-day Lebanon. A direct ancestor of the letter S, Samekh gives its name to one of Elea Studio's historic collections. Each piece bears a unique mark: a free and instinctive brushstroke, directly inspired by the original pictogram of the letter. The design is reduced to its essence, celebrating irregularity and imperfection through a textured black finish — raw, unique, and non-conventional.

Inspired by traces of time

Elea Studio draws its inspiration from archaeology, fragments, fossils, and other remnants of time. Like artefacts unearthed from archaeological excavations, our pieces engage in a dialogue with the past while remaining firmly anchored in the present, with the intention of paying tribute to ancient civilizations and their sacred relationship to objects.

CRAFTSMANSHIP

Each Elea Studio piece is entirely handmade. No two are identical. Every piece carries the imprint of the gesture, the variations of the glaze, and the traces of the long process that led to its creation. We believe in this sacred relationship to the unique, irreplaceable object, imbued with the time and energy devoted to its making. More than a simple everyday act, we seek to transform its use into a ritual that invites you to slow down, if only for a moment.

The Phoenician alphabet

A people of sailors and merchants settled along the coasts of present-day Lebanon between 1200 and 300 BCE, the Phoenicians were one of the most influential civilizations of Antiquity. Skilled navigators of the Mediterranean, they established trading posts as far as the coasts of Spain and North Africa — including Carthage — weaving remarkably extensive trade networks. Their most enduring legacy remains their alphabet: twenty-two symbols associated with sounds, inscribed in clay and stone, born from the need to record exchanges. Passed on to the Greeks, who added vowels, and later to the Romans, this alphabet is the ancestor of all Western alphabets and the primary inspiration behind the names of Elea Studio’s collections.
